Michaela Špačková
Michaela Špačková is a dynamic and visionary bassoonist who combines the worlds of classical and new music. She made her solo debut with the Prague Philharmonia at the age of 17, followed by performances with leading orchestras such as the ORF Vienna, the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the Czech Philharmonic and has won over 20 prizes at prestigious competitions, including the ARD Music Competition and Prague Spring.
Michaela has performed on some of the world's most famous stages, including the Berlin Philharmonie, the Philharmonie de Paris and recitals at the Konzerthaus Berlin and Tokyo's Suntory Hall, where she performed with Radek Baborák.
Her work as a solo bassoonist has taken her to the Konzerthausorchester Berlin under Christoph Eschenbach and the Akademie der Staatskapelle Berlin under Daniel Barenboim. Michaela regularly works with renowned ensembles such as the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the HR Symphony Orchestra and the Ensemble Resonanz and has performed under conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Paavo Järvi, Zubin Mehta and Jakub Hrůša.

Asya Chzhan
Michaela combines tradition with innovation in her artistic approach and is intensively committed to new music. She played the world premiere of Matthieu Stefanelli's Gaïa ou le Cri de la Terre, which was presented by Renaud Capuçon on ARTE at the Nouveaux Horizons festival. Her repertoire ranges from classical bassoon concertos to cross-genre projects with artists such as Alli Neumann. Michaela is also a dedicated pedagogue, teaching at the Cologne University of Music and Dance and regularly giving masterclasses throughout Europe and Japan. She completed her musical training at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin with Prof. Volker Tessmann and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris.
Michaela loves walking in the woods and gardening and enjoys getting involved in educational and social projects. In the 2024/2025 season, Michaela will perform with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin and the Bavarian Chamber Orchestra, among others. She will record her debut album on Supraphon, which will include two newly commissioned works, and will premiere a work Nightfall Wanders by Nikol Bóková for bassoon and string quartet in the fall. She is also curating her new concert projects Smyth & The Voice She Found, which will premiere at Kühlhaus Berlin.
